You're a big sis!

The wait is over my love. You are finally a big sister to little Jack! The wait was long and you were mostly patient, but the day is finally here. We actually had two big surprises in one day, Auntie Coco and Auntie Katie got here two days early and surprised us at the front door and when momma went to her doctor's appointment, they told us that Jack was coming that very day! Nana and Papa scooped you up and took you home with them to wait for the phone call that told you that he was here at last. When you got to the hospital that night you were so tired from all of the craziness of the day, and you were fairly perturbed that I had "pokies" in my arms, and even more perturbed that you couldn't see him immediately. Daddy and your Aunties took you to see him through the window and the first thing you had to say was that his "penis is so fluffy". We all had a good laugh and it's actually on video so you can torment your baby brother later in life. When Nana and Papa brought you the next day you were much more clear on what was going on. We made sure that you got to hold him first thing, and when you did, you looked at me with your beautiful face and said "Thanks Momma, I love him". And you did, when the nurses came to take him to the nursery you were beside yourself, crying not wanting him to go. Auntie P took you down the hall to follow him just so you would know that he was OK. It was the hardest thing that I think that I have had to do so far as your mom, to stay in that hospital and let you go home, even though I knew that you were going to be fine, I needed you and your reassurance. I detest being away from you, but I couldn't leave him either. In normal Gracie Girl fashion, you let me know you were fine and took it all in stride. Truth be told, I think you were more sad to leave Jack than to leave me. Oh little girl, I don't know what's to come but I am content knowing that you love your baby brother already and that we have so many loving people around us. We are a truly lucky family. Oh and by the way you somehow swindled Carolyn into getting you some sort of Jello concoction as well as a few other trinkets during your walk through the hospital in an effort to entertain you. You crack me up little lady and for that I will forever be grateful.
